Some like it HOT!
I went to "The Bar Downstairs" (that's what it's called) at the Andaz Hyatt on 5th ave. As you walk in you feel like you are entering a chefs getaway. Dimmed lighting with a large wooden natural finish bar. On one part of the bar is the freshest ingredients displayed as the bartender takes from them to make your drink. El Embarcadero margarita came highly recommended, but I had one request, I wanted it spicy. The bartender was up for the challenge! Herradura blanco tequila, pineapple, agave nectar, carpano antica, tobala mezcal and some muddled jalepenos made the BEST margarita I've ever had! When it was taking a little long the bartender commented that the spices needed to settle. The reasoning was good enough for me and a few minutes later it was served with a orange peel garnish.

I love your description of the ambience in The Bar Downstairs. Reading this immediately brought me back to The Library at The Roosevelt in LA!
